Former Hudson Valley Community College wide receiver Huey Whittaker has signed a rookie free agent contract with the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Whittaker, a 6-5, 230 pound wide out from Spring Hill, Florida, had 117 catches for 1,447 yards and seven touchdowns in three seasons at the University of South Florida.
He caught six balls for 83 yards and one touchdown for Hudson Valley in 1999.
Other former Hudson Valley football players that have went on to play professional football include: former Green Bay Packers tight end Jay Kearney; Canadian Football League All-Star Kelly Wiltshire, a linebacker with the Ottawa Renegades; and Arena Football League All-Star Cecil Doggette, a member of the Grand Rapids Rampage.
