The Hudson Valley Community College football team is ranked 14th in the National Junior College Athletic Association poll that was released earlier today.
Hudson Valley, the 2003 co-champion of the Northeast Football Conference, is 7-1 entering its final regular season contest against Union JV at 1 p.m. on Sunday, November 2. The Vikings certainly have earned their ranking over the last three weeks. The combined records of their last three opponents - Erie Community College, Alfred State College, and Nassau Community College - was 14-4. Hudson Valley won all three games, including a 26-23 win at then No. 15 Erie on October 11.
Hudson Valley is winning with running and defense. Sophomore running back Emmanuel Marc (Spring Valley/Spring Valley High School) leads the NJCAA with 205.8 rushing yards per game. That's more yards per game than the Hudson Valley defense is allowing. Hudson Valley is giving up only 191.4 total yards per contest and, more importantly, ranks first in the league with 91 points allowed in eight games.
