The awards keep piling up for Hudson Valley Community College sophomore running back Emmanuel Marc (Spring Valley/Spring Valley High School) this week after he ran for 335 yards in a win over Alfred State College on Saturday, October 18.
A day after earning Offensive Player of the Week honors by the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) and the Northeast Football Conference, Marc has been named the Region III Male Athlete of the Week for the period ending Sunday, October 19.
Already Hudson Valley's all-time leading rusher with 2,677 yards, Marc established three more school-records against Alfred State. His 335 rushing yards surpassed Dwight Slater, who rushed for 294 yards against Siena College in 1975. Marc has 1,442 rushing yards this year, surpassing the former season mark of 1,250 yards set by Dan Vergine in 1999. With his four touchdowns against Alfred State, Marc currently has 26 in his career and passes Dennis Greene, who had 24 touchdowns from 1971 to 1972.
Hudson Valley (6-1, 4-1 NFC), which clinched at least a share of the conference title with its win over Alfred State, will host Nassau Community College (5-1) at 2 p.m. on Saturday, October 25.
