The Northeast Football Conference (NFC) recognized Hudson Valley Community College sophomore running back Emmanuel Marc (Spring Valley/Spring Valley High School) and sophomore linebacker John Howell IV (Columbia, SC/Lower Richland High School) for their play in last Saturday's 29-16 win over Dean College. Marc was named the league's Offensive Player of the Week while Howell earned the conference's top weekly defensive honor.
Marc carried the ball 25 times for 268 yards and two touchdowns against Dean. He established a new school record with 1,968 career rushing yards, surpassing Dennis Greene, who rushed for 1,724 yards at Hudson Valley from 1971 to 1972. Marc currently leads the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) and the NFC with 183.3 rushing yards per game this year.
Howell recorded nine tackles, one sack and one pass break up against the Bulldogs to earn Defensive Player of the Week honors. He currently leads the Vikings with 24 tackles, including seven tackles-for-loss, on the season.
Hudson Valley (3-1) will host SUNY Canton (1-4) on Saturday, October 4 at 1 p.m.
