Ten players from Hudson Valley Community College were named to the Northeast Football Conference (NFC) All-Conference Team for their performance during the 2002 season.
Earning First Team All-Conference honors for the Vikings were running back Emmanuel Marc (Spring Valley, NY/Spring Valley High School), left tackle Leroy Auguste (Newburgh, NY/Newburgh Free Academy) and outside linebacker Audwin Davis (Tuckahoe, NY/Tuckahoe High School).
Marc rushed for 1,235 yards and 12 touchdowns this season, becoming only the fourth player in Hudson Valley history to amass over 1,000 rushing yards in a season. He led the NFC with 137.2 rushing yards per game and 7.0 yards per rush. Auguste anchored an offensive line that paved the way for 204.9 rushing yards per game, which was second best in the conference. Davis finished the season with 42 tackles, including five sacks and two forced fumbles.
The following players earned All-NFC Second Team accolades: tight end Anthony Martinez (Colonie/Colonie High School), who finished with a team-high 26 catches for 358 yards; fullback Lewis Crumb (Newburgh, NY/Newburgh Free Academy), who rushed for 174 yards on 49 carries; defensive end Frantzy Dorlean (Spring Valley, NY/Ramapo High School), who finished with 29 tackles, including seven tackles for loss; defensive tackle Ernest Jones (Bronx, NY/H.H. Lehman High School), who had 43 tackles, including eight tackles for loss; defensive end Jermaine Price (Browns Mills, NJ/Pemberton High School), who had 42 tackles; cornerback Francis Brown (Camden, NJ/Camden High School), who had 40 tackles and a league-high five interceptions; and cornerback Micah Germany (Pittsburgh, PA/Sheenley High School), who finished with 12 tackles and four pass break-ups.
Hudson Valley's football program was established in 1969. At the time, Hudson Valley was one of only two junior colleges in New York to field a varsity football team. Since then, nearly 300 Hudson Valley football players have earned scholarships to four-year schools and 15 have gone on to play professionally. The Vikings competed in the Coca-Cola Bowl in Iowa in 1980. In 1996, Hudson Valley posted an 8-0 record, part of a dominant stretch that included 15 straight victories.
