Hudson Valley Community College dropped to 3-5 with a 19-13 setback at Nassau Community College on Saturday, October 26. Four of the Hudson Valley's losses this season have come by nine points or less.
Freshman running back Emmanuel Marc (Spring Valley, NY/Spring Valley High School) carried the ball 29 times for 152 yards and one touchdown to lead the Vikings. He has gained more than 100 yards in four of the last five games and is only 30 yards shy of becoming the fourth player in Hudson Valley history to rush for more than 1,000 yards in one season.
Marc opened the scoring when he ran it in from one yard out with 7:02 remaining in the opening quarter. The score was part of a 13-play, 80-yard drive in which quarterback Marques Ingram (Queens/Lyndon Institute) hit tight end Anthony Martinez (Colonie/Colonie High School) on third down pass plays of 10 and 27 yards to keep the drive alive.
After a pair of scores that put Nassau up 13-7, Hudson Valley regained the momentum heading into the break when Justin Clarke (Middletown, NJ/Middletown High School) kicked a 42-yard field goal as time expired to cut the Vikings deficit in half. Clarke's field goal was the first for Hudson Valley since September 10, 2000.
A 21-yard field goal by Clarke tied the game with 6:23 remaining in the third quarter but it was the Lions who came out on top when they scored the game-winner with 7:50 remaining in the game.
Linebacker Audwin Davis (Tuckahoe/Tuckahoe High School) had 13 tackles, including two tackles for loss, a forced fumble and a fumble recovery to lead the Hudson Valley defense while Mike Miller (Akron, OH/Firestone High School) had 11 tackles for the Vikings.
