Hudson Valley Community College freshman running back Emmanuel Marc (Spring Valley, NY/Spring Valley High School) was recognized by the JC Football Network as one of two national Players of the Week for his performance at Nassau Community College on Saturday, October 26. Also, linebacker Audwin Davis (Tuckahoe, NY/Tuckahoe High School) was named the Northeast Football Conference's Co-Defensive Player of the Week and kicker Justin Clarke (Middletown, NJ/Middletown High School) was awarded the league's Special Teams Player of the Week.
Marc, who has twice been named Player of the Week by the NFC, rushed for 152 yards and one touchdown at Nassau. He leads the NFC with 121.3 rushing yards per game and has exceeded the 100-yard plateau in four of the last five games. Marc has rushed for 970 yards this season and has a chance to become just the fourth Hudson Valley player to rush for over 1,000 yards in a season when the Vikings host Union JV at 1 p.m. on Sunday, November 3.
The JC Football Network recognizes junior college players from around the country each week. Marc shares the award this week with Craig Richardson of Long Beach City College.
Davis recorded 13 tackles, a fumble recovery, and forced a fumble against the Nassau. He leads the team with five sacks and has 39 tackles on the year.
Clarke kicked the first two field goals of collegiate career at Nassau. His 42-yard field goal at end of the first half was the first field goal by a Hudson Valley player since September 10, 2000.
Hudson Valley's football program was established in 1969. At the time, Hudson Valley was one of only two junior colleges in New York to field a varsity football team. Since then, nearly 300 Hudson Valley football players have earned scholarships to four-year schools and 15 have gone on to play professionally. The Vikings competed in the Coca-Cola Bowl in Iowa in 1980. In 1996, Hudson Valley posted an 8-0 record, part of a dominant stretch that included 15 straight victories.
