Career Record: 43-38

Joshua Parrow enters his fifth season as head coach of the Vikings baseball program. He comes to Hudson Valley with nearly a decade of collegiate coaching experience, spending the previous nine seasons as an assistant coach and recruiting coordinator at the University of Bridgeport in Connecticut.

In 2023, Coach Parrow guided the baseball program back to the NJCAA Region 3 final four after sweeping Genesee in the sub-regional round at Joe Bruno Stadium. Baseball finished the season with a 27-19 record (20-8 Region 3), an 11-game improvement from 2022. In the 46 games played, the team finished with a .350 batting average and scored 353 runs and slugged 18 home runs. Coach Parrow was recognized by his peers as the Mountain Valley Conference Coach of the Year for the second consecutive season.

In 2022, Coach Parrow did a remarkable job keeping his student-athletes engaged during the COVID seasons of 2020 and 2021. During his first true season coaching in 2022, he guided the Vikings to a 16-19 (14-8 Region 3) season and placed third in the Region 3 East Division, securing a postseason berth in his team’s first post-COVID season. Parrow was awarded the Mountain Valley Conference Coach of the Year, as voted on by the conference coaches and last year’s team performed well at home, finishing with an 8-5 home record, hitting .295 and scoring 226 runs in 35 games.

During his tenure at Bridgeport, Parrow helped turn around the program’s pitching staff, which included an East Coast Conference regular season championship and the university’s first trip to the NCAA Regionals in 2016. The student-athletes recruited by Parrow broke all statistical records at Bridgeport including, total wins, strikeouts, earned run average, doubles, home runs, RBI, hits and batting average. Working in the role of Assistant Director of Development at Bridgeport, Parrow helped create one of the best fundraising years in the history of the university in 2018-19. As a senior member of the admissions staff in 2015-16, he assisted in reporting a 30-year high in full-time enrollment for Bridgeport.

Parrow also brings experience coaching competitive NCAA talent in the summer as the manager of the Danbury Westerners of the New England Collegiate Baseball League (NECBL), a competitive amateur wooden bat summer baseball league, which features student-athletes from all parts of the country. He was named manager of the Westerners in 2015 following one season as pitching coach of the NECBL’s North Adams SteepleCats program.

Prior to Bridgeport, Parrow started his coaching career in the West Haven Twilight League in 2011 and was named the league’s Coach of the Year.

A Capital Region native, Parrow played high school baseball at Catholic Central High School in Troy, where he was a member of the varsity team. He also played NJCAA baseball for the Herkimer Generals, where he was a member of two Mountain Valley Conference championship teams and appeared in two NJCAA Region 3 Championships.

Parrow has directly worked with 37 student-athletes in the last five years who have went on to be drafted by Major League Baseball.

He earned his bachelor’s degree in Social Science with honors and obtained his master’s degree in Counseling from the University of Bridgeport.
