Parrow Earns 100th Win in Sunday Sweep

GAME ONE: HVCC 11 - SUNY BROOME 4
The bottom of the lineup helped the Vikings capture an 11-4 victory over SUNY Broome on Sunday. Carson Jenkins-Antle, Niko Sorice, and Aidan Heffner combined for five of the team's nine hits in the victory. They scored four runs and drove in seven.
The Vikings took the lead in the bottom of the second inning after Sorice singled to center field, Jenkins-Antle was struck by a pitch, Heffner grounded into a fielder's choice, and Matthew Carrera hit a sacrifice fly, each scoring one run. The Vikings added to their early lead in the bottom of the third inning when an error scored one run, and Heffner doubled, scoring two runs.
Tyler Spenard earned the win for the Vikings. The starter gave up four hits and four runs over four and two-thirds innings, striking out seven and walking three. Alex Deitz tossed two and one-third innings of shutout ball for the Vikings in relief. The hurler gave up two hits, striking out two and walking one.
The Vikings accumulated nine hits in the game. Jameson Balich, Sorice, and Heffner each collected two hits for the Vikings. Sorice and Heffner each drove in three runs for the Vikings. The Vikings stole four bases in the game.
GAME TWO: HVCC 13 - SUNY BROOME 0
Brendan Connolly drove in four runs on two hits to lead the Vikings past SUNY Broome 13-0 in game 2. Connolly hit a home run to right field in the second inning, scoring two runs, and doubled in the third inning, scoring one.
The Vikings got on the board in the bottom of the first inning after Jameson Balich singled, scoring one run, Connolly grounded out, scoring one run, and Carson Jenkins-Antle singled, scoring two runs. The Vikings added to their early lead in the bottom of the second inning after Balich singled down the left field line, and Connolly homered to right field, each scoring two runs. The Vikings added to their early lead in the bottom of the third inning after Tyree Jackson tripled down the right field line, Balich singled to right field, and Connolly doubled down the left field line, each scoring one run.
Hunter Stolov earned the win for the Vikings. The pitcher gave up one hit and zero runs over five innings, striking out five and walking none.
The Vikings piled up 10 hits in the game. Balich led the Vikings with three hits in three at bats. Jackson collected two hits for the Vikings in three at bats. Niko Sorice led the Vikings with three walks. Overall, the team had a strong eye at the plate, amassing nine walks for the game. Matthew Carrera stole two bases. the Vikings stole four bases in the game. The Vikings didn't commit a single error in the field. Sorice had the most chances in the field with five.
With Sunday's wins over SUNY Broome, Head Coach Josh Parrow reaches 100 career wins at HVCC. Coach Parrow has become just the third baseball coach over the last 31 years at HVCC to surpass 100 career wins.
The Vikings scrimmage the Tri-City ValleyCats at home on Wednesday, May 30th at 6pm.
