GAME ONE: HVCC 13 - JEFFERSON 2
The Vikings defeated SUNY Jefferson 13-2 on Sunday at Joseph L. Bruno Stadium thanks in part to 10 runs in the first inning. a wild pitch scored one run, Niko Sorice singled, scoring two runs, Christian Aguilar drew a walk, scoring one run, Jayden Kennedy doubled, scoring one run, Brendan Connolly singled, scoring two runs, Nico DeSanto homered to left field, scoring two runs, and Jameson Balich singled, scoring one run.
A sacrifice fly by Matthew Carrera extended The the Vikings lead to 11-0 in the bottom of the second inning. The Vikings added two more runs in the bottom of the fourth inning on two hits. Aguilar hit a solo home run to left field, and Juan Rodriguez hit a sacrifice fly, scoring one run. Hunter Stolov earned the win for the Vikings. The starter allowed four hits and two runs over five innings, striking out seven and walking none.
The Vikings collected 12 hits in the game. Sorice, DeSanto, Balich, and Kennedy each collected two hits for the Vikings. Sorice, DeSanto, and Connolly each drove in two runs for the Vikings. Aguilar stole two bases. The Vikings stole six bases in the game.
GAME TWO: HVCC 7 - JEFFERSON 3
The Vikings bested SUNY Jefferson 7-3 on Sunday at Joseph L. Bruno Stadium.
The Vikings got on the board in the bottom of the first inning after Nico DeSanto singled to center field, and Brendan Connolly doubled to center field, each scoring one run. A single by Aidan Heffner extended The the Vikings lead to 4-1 in the bottom of the third inning. Dylan Stolov earned the win for the Vikings. The starter allowed five hits and three runs (one earned) over five innings, striking out seven and walking two. Jake O'Connor and Tyler Murray each came on in relief for the Vikings and shutdown SUNY Jefferson.
DeSanto and Connolly each collected two hits for the Vikings. Connolly, Jameson Balich, and Heffner each drove in two runs for the Vikings. Connolly, Christian Aguilar, and Heffner each stole multiple bases for the Vikings. The Vikings stole eight bases in the game.
The Vikings will travel to SUNY Jefferson for their next games on Thursday at 2pm and 4pm.
