Baseball Earns Major Wins Over Cayuga at Home

GAME ONE: HVCC 14 - CAYUGA 4
The Vikings won big over Cayuga 14-4 on Thursday at Joseph L. Bruno Stadium.
The Vikings took the lead in the bottom of the first inning after Jameson Balich hit a sacrifice fly, Niko Sorice grounded into a fielder's choice, and Jayden Kennedy doubled to center field, each scoring one run. The Vikings added to their early lead in the bottom of the second inning after Matthew Carrera doubled to right field, and Nico DeSanto singled to center field, each scoring one run. The Vikings scored six runs on four hits in the bottom of the third inning. Christian Aguilar singled, scoring one run, an error scored one run, Logan Norman singled, scoring three runs, and Balich doubled, scoring one run. Aidan Heffner homered to right field, scoring two runs in the bottom of the fourth for the Vikings.
Pierson Davis earned the win for the Vikings. The starter surrendered six hits and four runs (three earned) over three innings, striking out two and walking two. Tyler Murray pitched two innings of zero-run ball for the Vikings in relief. The righty surrendered one hit, striking out two and walking one.
The Vikings accumulated 12 hits in the game. Sorice, DeSanto, Norman, and Aguilar each collected two hits for the Vikings. Sorice, Norman, Balich, and Heffner each drove in two runs for the Vikings. The Vikings turned one double play in the game.
GAME TWO: HVCC 12 - CAYUGA 7
Joseph L. Bruno Stadium saw plenty of offense as the Vikings defeated Cayuga 12-7. The Vikings racked up 13 hits, while Cayuga managed six.
Matthew Carrera collected three hits in five at bats in the win. Carrera singled in the second inning, singled in the third inning, and singled in the first inning. The Vikings were the first to get on the board in the first when Niko Sorice grounded out, scoring one run. The Vikings added to their early lead in the bottom of the second inning after Carrera singled down the right field line, and Nico DeSanto hit a sacrifice fly, each scoring one run. The Vikings scored six runs on four hits in the bottom of the third inning. Aidan Heffner doubled, scoring three runs, Carrera singled, scoring one run, DeSanto doubled, scoring one run, and Logan Norman singled, scoring one run.
Connor Trudeau earned the win for the Vikings. The starting pitcher surrendered two hits and three runs over four innings, striking out seven and walking four. Jake O'Connor threw two innings of zero-run ball for the Vikings in relief. The righty gave up three hits, striking out three and walking none.
The Vikings piled up 13 hits in the game. Heffner led the Vikings with three runs batted in from the number nine spot in the lineup. The right-handed hitter went 2-for-4 on the day. Norman and Carrera each collected three hits for the Vikings. Brendan Connolly collected two hits for the Vikings in three at bats. Norman and Carrera each stole multiple bases for the Vikings. The Vikings ran wild on the base paths, piling up four stolen bases for the game. The Vikings turned one double play in the game.
Next up for the Vikings is a doubleheader at Cayuga on Saturday at 12pm and 2pm.
