GAME ONE: HVCC 11 - FULTON MONTGOMERY 0
The Vikings easily dispatched Fulton-Montgomery on Saturday at Fulton Montgomery Community College, 11-0.
The Vikings got on the board in the top of the first inning after Logan Norman tripled, scoring two runs, Niko Sorice doubled, scoring one run, and Christian Aguilar drew a walk, scoring one run. The Vikings extended their early lead with four runs in the top of the third thanks to RBI singles by Aidan Heffner, Matthew Carrera, and Norman. Three more the Vikings runs crossed the plate in the fourth inning to extend the lead to 11-0. Jayden Kennedy homered to left field, scoring two runs, and Nico DeSanto singled, scoring one run.
Tyler Spenard earned the win for the Vikings. The pitcher surrendered two hits and zero runs over five innings, striking out five and walking one. The Vikings tallied 15 hits in the game. Norman provided pop in the middle of the lineup, and led the Vikings with three runs batted in. The outfielder went 3-for-4 on the day. DeSanto, Norman, and Carrera each collected three hits for the Vikings. Kennedy collected two hits for the Vikings in two at bats. Norman stole two bases. The Vikings stole four bases in the game. The Vikings didn't commit a single error in the field. Sorice had the most chances in the field with six.
GAME TWO: HVCC 7 - FULTON MONTGOMERY 3
Matthew Carrera collected three hits in three at bats, as the Vikings defeated Fulton-Montgomery 7-3 on Saturday. Carrera tripled in the seventh inning, doubled in the third inning, and singled in the first inning.
The Vikings got on the board in the top of the fourth inning after Jayden Kennedy walked, and Niko Sorice scored after tagging up, each scoring one run. Alex Deitz earned the win for the Vikings. The hurler gave up three hits and two runs over six innings, striking out six and walking three. Jake O'Connor collected the save. Carson Jenkins-Antle appeared in relief for the Vikings.
Kennedy led the Vikings with two runs batted in from the number seven spot in the lineup. Sorice collected two hits for the Vikings in three at bats. Jameson Balich led the Vikings with three walks. Overall, the team had a strong eye at the plate, piling up 10 walks for the game. Carrera stole three bases. The Vikings ran wild on the base paths, amassing seven stolen bases for the game.
The Vikings face Fulton Montgomery again on Tuesday, March 25th at Joe Bruno Stadium at 2pm and 4pm.
