The Hudson Valley Community College baseball program earned the No. 3 seed in the East Division of the NJCAA Region 3 postseason and will travel to play No. 2 seed Erie Community College from the West Division on Saturday, May 11 beginning at 12 p.m. in Buffalo, NY.
The baseball team closed out the regular season with a 3-1 road win over nationally-ranked #9 Herkimer College, on May 2nd. Herkimer is the top-seed from the East Division, followed by Cayuga at No. 2 and Adirondack claimed the No. 4 seed from the East.
The 2024 season was highlighted by a 16-game win streak, which spanned nearly seven weeks of the season. Following the streak, the nationally-ranked Vikings went on a skid, losing five of their next six games, which pushed them down into the No. 3 seed for the playoffs.
During the year, the Vikings were led by All-Region candidates Matthew Carrera, Tyree Jackson along with superb starting pitching from Hunter Stolov, Andrew Wilson and Jayden Hughes. Carrera finished the regular season hitting a team-best .426 with 38 runs on 43 hits. Jackson batted .394 with 30 runs scored on 37 hits. Stolov and Wilson were dominant all season as they combined for an overall record of 11-4 and 100 strikeouts. Hughes pitched well over his 29.2 innings and finished with a 2.73 ERA and a 2-1 record in six appearances.
Baseball's all-time record against Erie is 20-26, which includes a 10-0 defeat in the 2023 NJCAA Region 3 Championships, which ultimately ended the baseball campaign for the Vikings.
