Baseball's Streak Extends to 10 with Undefeated Spring Trip

The Hudson Valley Community College baseball team has been rolling through teams and today was no different as they swept Holyoke and improved to 11-1 overall and extended its winning streak to 10 straight games.

GAME ONE: Hudson Valley 10, Holyoke 0 (Final – 5 innings)

The Vikings offense as collected 12 hits and scored 10 runs in the first game of the day and were led by Brendan Connolly, who tallied three hits and scored three runs, all in the first three innings of the game. Tyree Jackson and Brendan Curry both collected two hits with Jackson scoring two runs and Curry finished the day with two RBIs.

On the mound Jayden Hughes went the distance as he tossed five complete innings and allowed just one hit and struck out seven batters. Hughes was very efficient as he completed the game with just 43 pitches and 36 strikes over the course of the game, facing a total of 16 batters.

GAME TWO: Hudson Valley 12, Holyoke 1 (Final)

In the final game of the day, the Vikings continued its offensive onslaught as the scored 12 runs on 11 hits and were led by Niko Sorice, who finished the game 3-for-4 at the plate with three runs and three RBIs. Sorice connected for a big fly over the left field fence in the fifth inning and he also collected an extra base hit (double) in the second inning.

Tyler Murray earned the starting assignment and he tossed a gem over the course of three innings. Murray was awarded his first collegiate win after he completed three innings and allowed just one run on three hits with four strikeouts.

Artemio Hoyos had a nice relief appearance as he did not give up a hit in two innings and struck out four batters. Daniel Paton closed out the game, tossing last two innings of the game and he struck out two batters and allowed just one hit on 25 pitches.

ON DECK:

The baseball team returns to New York and is back in action on Saturday, March 23rd when they host Cayuga for a doubleheader at Joe Bruno Stadium beginning at 12 p.m. on the campus of HVCC.
