The Hudson Valley Community College baseball program completed the four-game season series sweep of the Columbia-Greene Twins and clinched a No. 2 seed in the NJCAA Region 3 East Standings with two games remaining against Mohawk Valley later this week.

GAME ONE: Hudson Valley 14, Columbia-Greene 3 (6 innings)

The Vikings put up a six-run fifth inning to secure a 14-3 win over the Twins to get the doubleheader off to a great start as the Vikings continued to fight for postseason positioning.

As a team, the Vikings combined for 13 hits in the game with Mike Talavera and Anthony Rizzo leading the way with three hits each. Colin Lynch had a big game as well as he went 2-for-3 at the plate, including a home run in the fourth inning.

On the mound, Jacob Lapham earned the win as he tossed five complete innings and allowed three runs (one earned) on four hits and struck out nine, while walking just one batter. Lapham was very efficient on the mound, using only 69 pitches with 50 first pitch strikes on the 22 batters faced in the game.

GAME TWO: Hudson Valley 15, Columbia-Greene 5 (5 innings)

The Vikings wasted no time in the second game to pull away with a double-digit victory to secure one of the top-two seeds in the Region 3 East Division. Hudson Valley scored six runs in the first two innings and added a four-run fourth inning to shut the door on the Twins.

Lynch continued to swing a big bat today as he connected for two doubles in the second game and drove in a game-high five RBIs. Jaden Ross set the tone early as he finished the game with three hits and scored three runs as the facilitator at the top of the lineup.

Carson Patrick started as the team's catcher and produced two hits and two runs scored to help pace the offense and the bottom half of the lineup. Brayden Mann also connected for two hits and drove in two RBIs in the game.
