The Hudson Valley Community College baseball program finished with a home split with Mohawk Valley on Tuesday afternoon at Joe Bruno Stadium on the campus of HVCC.

GAME ONE: Mohawk Valley 11, Hudson Valley 6 (Final)

Hudson Valley held on to a small lead over the Hawks for the majority of the game but ultimately gave up the lead late in the sixth inning as they allowed the Hawks to score seven unanswered runs in the sixth and the seventh inning.

The Vikings ran into trouble in the sixth as the pitchers were unable to find the strike zone and the Hawks hitters proved patient. The Vikings pitchers gave up 15 free bases and the team committed a pair of errors, which allowed the Hawks to stay in the game and eventually steal a win from the second-seeded Vikings.

Connor Waiting had a big game at the plate as he connected for two home runs with three RBIs and three runs scored. The top of the lineup produced at a high clip, hitting a combined 10-for-19 with six runs and five RBIs. Jaden Ross drove in two runs and hit 2-for-4 at the plate.

GAME TWO: Hudson Valley 6, Mohawk Valley 1 (Final)

The Vikings regrouped for a good second game to secure the split on the day. Jacob Lapham tossed a gem on the mound as he struck out 11 batters and gave up only one run on five hits and one walk over six innings. Chance Herrington closed out the final inning, striking out one batter and allowed zero hits and walks.

Waiting carried his big bat into the second game as well, hitting three home runs on the day. Waiting hit a solo shot in the bottom of the second inning to kick off the Vikings scoring.

Colin Lynch was the only other Viking to record two hits in the final game of the day. Lynch finished 2-for-2 (2 doubles) with one walk and two runs scored.
