Baseball Earns Dominant Win at Camden

The Hudson Valley Community College baseball team earned its first win of the season as they defeated Camden 11-1 in Blackwood, NJ as they Vikings kicked off their spring trip to Florida.

Everything was working for the Vikings today as Jacob Lapham (Lansingburgh / Lansingburgh) and Luis Misla (Tampa, Fla. / Riverview) were in midseason form after combined for 17 strikeouts, three hits and one earned run in nine innings. Lapham earned the start and the win while pitching five innings and struck out seven batters. Misla entered the game in relief and continued to shut down the Camden offense, striking out 10 batters in four complete innings.

Offensively, the Vikings were led by Josh Foglia (Latham / Shaker), who entered the game as the team's leading in batting average (.462). Foglia finished the game a perfect 4-for-4 at the plate with two doubles and three runs batted in. Mike Talavera (Waterford / Waterford) also got off to a hot start, hitting 4-for-4 at the plate with a walk and a stolen base.

The Vikings improved to 1-4 on the season as they embark on a busy schedule featuring five games in the next six days as part of the annual RussMatt tournament in Florida. Check out the complete RussMatt schedule.
