The Hudson Valley Community College baseball closed out its season-opening four-game series at Anne Arundel in Arnold, Md., Sunday afternoon.

Game One: Anne Arundel 11, Hudson Valley 3 (7 innings)

Hudson Valley jumped out 1-0 in the top of the first inning when Ethan Thompson singled to leftfield and scored Mike Talavera. Talavera reached base with a single through the right side and stole second base to put him in scoring position for Thompson's RBI single.

The Riverhawks then went on to score 10 unanswered runs until the top of the sixth inning when the Vikings had two runners cross the plate. In the sixth inning, a walk by Brayden Mann and a hit by pitch on Thompson set up a big 2 RBI double to center field, which scored Mann and Dominick Pontore.

Dominick Persichilli took the loss on the mound after tossing 2.0 innings and gave up four runs (3 ER) on four hits with three walks and three strikeouts. The Vikings also had Jayden Hughes enter the game in relief, tossing 1.0 innings, walked one and struck out one. Richie Tamsett, Matthew Hall and Lorenzo Gannon combined for the final 3.0 innings with eight hits and seven runs.

Game Two: Anne Arundel 6, Hudson Valley 3 (7 innings)

The final game of the four-game series went to the Riverhawks, but the Vikings put up a good fight as the game was tied 2-2 as the game entered the bottom of the fifth inning. The Vikings scored their first run in the third inning as Colin Lynch hit a sacrifice fly to centerfield, which allowed Paul Fernandez to score. Fernandez led off the inning with a walk and advanced on a bunt single by Jaden Ross and the bases became loaded when Josh Foglia walked, to set up Lynch's RBI.

In the fourth inning, Hudson Valley tied the game at 2-2, the Vikings put together another good string of at-bats, which eventually allowed Brayden Mann to score on a wild pitch. Mann kicked off the inning with a single to right field. Following a Riverhawks error and a sacrifice bunt by Carson Patrick, Mann advanced to third for the ability to advance on the wild pitch.

Foglia would score in the seventh inning inning following a single by Anthony Rizzo to center field, but the Riverhawks pulled away late to preserve the win.
