The Hudson Valley Community College baseball team brought an end to its four-game losing streak on Sunday afternoon after they defeated Jefferson Community College 6-3 at Joe Bruno Stadium before the rain washed out the second game of the scheduled doubleheader.

Luis Misla took the bump for the Vikings and he was electric in his five innings pitched. The lefty allowed two runs on two hits and struck out 13 batters for the win. Aiden Dickson entered the game in relief and earned the save after he allowed six hits with one run and one strikeout in the final two innings of the game.

The Vikings big bats were active today as well as they recorded two extra base-hits out of the five total hits collected. Jaden Ross and Mike Talavera connected for doubles. Talavera added three RBIs and Ross added two runs scored.

Hudson Valley did the most damage in the home half of the fourth inning when they scored four runs on three hits. B. Shader started the inning off with a single and later stole second base to set up an RBI single by Cole Paro. Talavera came to the plate with the bases loaded and he sent a three-RBI double to left centerfield, scoring Paro, Jack Defayette and Ross.

The scheduled second game of the doubleheader was canceled due to weather. The game will not be made up and the Vikings will now look towards Thursday, April 7 when they travel to Watertown, NY for another doubleheader with Jefferson. First pitch is scheduled to begin at 2 p.m.
