Baseball Drops Final Non-Region Game to Morris

The Hudson Valley Community College baseball team dropped its final non-regional tune-up 12-2 to a quality County College of Morris program as they Vikings are now ready to kick off its NJCAA Region 3 schedule later this week against No. 10 Herkimer on Thursday at Joe Bruno Stadium. 

As a team, the Vikings managed one run on two hits and struck out nine times in the five innings played. Chance Herrington took the start on the bump for the Vikings in a game that featured four pitchers seeing action. Combined, the pitchers allowed nine hits, 12 runs and six walks. 

Morris jumped on the board early as Will Fritch hit a two-run home run deep over the left field fence on Joe Bruno Stadium. They extended their lead on the Vikings to 4-0 in the opening inning. Hudson Valley edged closer to Morris in the next two innings as Josh Foglia reached on an error, allowing Mike Talavera to score the Vikings first run of the game. 

In the second inning, another error by Morris allowed Jonathan Delgadillo to score. Morris had a big fifth inning, which ultimately put the game away as they scored eight runs on five hits. 

The Vikings are back home this Thursday, March 31 as they welcome No. 10 Herkimer to Joe Bruno Stadium to kickstart the Region 3 schedule. The doubleheader is scheduled to start at 2 p.m. and the game will be live streamed at HVCCAthletics.com/WATCH.
