Baseball Drops Season Opening Series at Anne Arundel

The Hudson Valley Community College baseball program was in action for the first time in 1,015 days as they traveled south to take on Anne Arundel for a doubleheader in Arnold, Md. The Vikings were defeated in both games, 10-7 and 9-7, respectively. 

GAME ONE: Anne Arundel 10, Hudson Valley 7

In game one, the Vikings had six individuals collect seven hits and were led by Mike Talavera, who went 2-for-4 with a pair of singles. On the mound, Jacob Lapham (0-1) got the start on the bump and tossed three innings, facing 18 at-bats, while striking out four and walking six. Albert Vargas came in relief in the fourth inning and allowed three runs on three hits with one strike out and two walks.  

GAME TWO: Anne Arundel 9, Hudson Valley 7

In the second game, the Vikings five individuals record hits with Ian Martinez and Josh Foglia leading the way with a multi-hit day. Foglia finished with three hits on four at-bats, while Martinez finished 2-for-4 at the plate and scored twice. Freddie Callo earned the start and tossed four innings, giving up two runs on two hits and struke out seven. Sean CramerAustin Walsh (0-1), Chance Brown and Chris Lavallee also saw time on the mound, combining for three innings pitched and gave up eight runs. 

UP NEXT:

The baseball team is back in action on Saturday, March 5 when they host County College of Morris for a doubleheader beginning at 12 p.m. The location of the game has yet to be determined.
