Hudson Valley Community College baseball team (2-3) won their second straight game on Wednesday morning as they defeated Frederick Community College 3-2.

The Vikings top of the lineup, hitters 2-4, combined to go 6-for-12 and scored all three runs for Hudson Valley. Jackson Wenstrom (Mandan, N.D./Mandan) has been the Vikings best hitter in the early season as he collected two hits in his fourth straight game and is currently hitting .450 in the Vikings first five games.

Derek Miller (Westernville/Rome Free Academy) collected two hits and scored two runs and Jonathan Montesanti (Niskayuna/Colonie) also produced at the plate with two hits. As a team, the Vikings collected nine hits in 35 at-bats. Miller, Wenstrom and Nick Thomas all had at least one double in the game.

On the mound, Clayton Patrick (W, 1-0) (Schuylerville/Schuylerville) had an amazing outing for the Vikings. Patrick tossed six complete innings and gave up only two runs on six hits to secure his first win of the season. Joe Duncan (S,1) (Valley Falls/Hoosic Valley) relieved Patrick in the seventh and tossed a hitless inning for his first save of the season.

The Vikings second game against Frederick was canceled to do rain in the forecast.

The Vikings return to action this Saturday, March 31 to play Montgomery County Community College at 12 p.m.
