The Hudson Valley Community College baseball team (11-3) defeated Mohawk Valley Community College (4-16) 8-5 and 8-0 on Tuesday afternoon.
Darren Conte (Hudson/Hudson) came in the first game in the sixth with one out to get the Vikings out of a jam and finished off the seventh to earn the save on the mound. Connor McDonough (Lansingburgh/Lansingburgh) went 2-4 with a double and two RBIs, and Conte and Brady Fallon (CBA Albany/Clifton Park) each recorded two hits with a double and an RBI in the win.
Kyle McAlonie (Shenendehowa/Clifton Park) went 4.1 innings with four strikeouts and no runs to earn his first win of the season. Dylan Pollock (Catholic Central/Troy) pitched two innings and Brien Hollowood (Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake/Burnt Hills) threw .2 innings to complete the shutout for the Vikings. Nicolas Teitter (Saugerties/Saugerties) led the team going 3-4 with an RBI, and Fallon went 1-2 with a team-high three RBIs in the win.
The Vikings host Mohawk Valley on Thursday for a doubleheader at 2 p.m.
