The Hudson Valley Community College baseball team (6-2) defeated Schenectady County Community College (0-5) 8-1 and 13-5 on Thursday afternoon.
Darren Conte (Hudson/Hudson) had another big day, starting in game one where he pitched five innings to earn the win on the mound. Conte helped his own cause by going 3-3 at the plate with 4 RBIs, and Joseph Zabbara (Rocky Point/Miller Place) launched a pair of solo homeruns to lead the Vikings in the 8-1 victory.
Conte came back in game two to go 3-4 at the plate with 3 RBIs, and went an impressive 12-14 at the plate in the 4-game series with the Royals. Garrett Klahr (Shaker/Latham) went 4-5 with three RBIs, and Zabbara and Brandon Cellucci (Averill Park/Troy) each added three hits with an RBI apiece in the win. Sam Spadafore (Cicero-North Syracuse/Syracuse) earned the win on the mound, going 5 1/3 innings with four strikeouts.
The Vikings travel to Adirondack on Saturday for a doubleheader starting at noon.
