The Hudson Valley Community College baseball team (20-10) split with Columbia-Greene Community College (8-15) on Tuesday afternoon. The Vikings lost game one 5-4, but came back in game two and won 4-2.
In game one, the Nations leading batter, Darren Conte (Hudson/Hudson), continued his hot streak going 3-4 at the plate with two RBIs. Connor McDonough (Lansingburgh/Lansingburgh) added two hits, and Matt Sand (CBA/Altamont) added a triple and two RBIs in the loss.
Tim Hughes (Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk/Ravena) got the Vikings back on track in game two, pitching three scoreless innings with three strikeouts to earn the win on the mound. Conte came in relief to get a five-out save on one hit and two strikeouts. Zach Farias (New Fairfield/New Fairfield, CT) led the team with two RBIs, and Brandon Martinez (River Dell/River Edge, NJ) added a triple in the win.
The Vikings will wait until Thursday to see who they will play this coming weekend.
