The Hudson Valley Community College baseball team (17-13) split with Schenectady County Community College (15-14) on Saturday evening. The Vikings won game one, 2-0, but dropped game two, 7-1.
Chad Sinko (Shaker/Latham) earned the win on the mound going 4 and 1/3 innings, and Hans Schmidt (Catskill/Catskill) came in to shut door to complete the game one shutout. Bradley Adams (Catholic Central/Troy) led the Vikings with two hits, including an RBI double to put the Vikings on the board. Eric Mueller (Bethlehem/Glenmont) and Mike Sunkes (Catholic Central/Waterford) each recorded two hits in the win.
The bats went cold in game two, and the Vikings couldn't overcome the Royals early lead. Charles Parslow (Fonda-Fultonville/Fonda) led the team with two hits, and Mueller and Sunkes were the other two Vikings with hits in the loss.
The baseball team travels to Schenectady tomorrow for a doubleheader at two.
