The Hudson Valley Community College baseball team (11-9) split with Clinton Community College (1-7) on Thursday afternoon. The Vikings lost game one, 6-5, but came back in game two to win, 7-1.
Mike Sunkes (Catholic Central/Waterford) and Anthony Scaccia (Voorheesville/Voorheesville) each went 2-4 at the plate in the game one loss. Kyle Hall (Mapleton/Castleton) came in relief to pitch a solid 3 and 1/3 innings, striking out five and allowing no runs, but couldn't get enough run support for the win.
Game two was dominated on the mound for the Vikings by freshman Franklin Miller (Ballston Spa/Ballston Spa). Miller tossed a two-hit complete game with eight strikeouts. Eric Mueller (Bethlehem/Glenmont), Matt Sand (CBA/Altamont) and Joseph Bender (Guilderland/Guilderland) each recorded two hits, and Bender also chipped in three RBIs in the win.
