Charles Parslow (Fonda-Fultonville/Fonda) was one of four Hudson Valley Community College students to earn the State University of New York Chancellor's Award for Student Excellence.
The Chancellor's Award for Student Excellence was created 17 years ago to recognize students who have best demonstrated, and been recognized for, the integration of academic excellence with accomplishments in the areas of leadership, athletics, community service, creative and performing arts or career achievement. Parslow is a member of the Hudson Valley baseball team who is a peer tutor in the college's Learning Assistance Center and has maintained a perfect grade point average in his Engineering Science studies. He also was named to Who's Who Among Students in American Colleges and Universities early this year.
Parslow had an impressive freshman campaign for the Vikings last season, earning both All-Region and All-Conference honors. He finished last season with six wins, four complete games, and 41 strikeouts with a 2.21 ERA. His season was highlighted when he threw a perfect game in a 10-0 win over Jefferson Community College in May.
