Sophomore centerfielder, Andy Kozak (Sidney/Sidney), was named Region III Player of the Week on Tuesday morning.
Last week, Kozak had at least one hit in each game (eight total), going 16-26 (.615) at the plate, in a week where the Vikings took seven out of eight important divisional games from Mohawk Valley and Columbia-Greene. In the eight games, Kozak recorded seven RBIs, scored nine runs (scored in all eight games) with nine stolen bases.
Coming off the school's first ever Rawlings Gold Glove award last season, Kozak is having another remarkable year. He has had at least one hit in 22 out of 24 games, and has reached base safely in all 24 games. Kozak is currently riding an eight-game hitting streak and is second in the Nation with a .581 batting average.
The Vikings host their final game on the year in a 9-inning game against Holyoke on Wednesday at 4 p.m.
