The Hudson Valley Community College (3-5) baseball team swept Methodist University 7-1 and 12-0 on Monday, March 21. Both games were dominated by strong pitching performances.
Mike Tietjen (Oneonta/Oneonta) pitched a complete game, recording nine strikeouts in the first game. Jacob DiPietro (Kingston/Kingston) led the Vikings, going 3-4 from the plate with two RBIs. In game two, Bryan Lajeunesse (Albany Academy/Watervliet) turned in a dominating performance, tossing a one-hitter. DiPietro went 3-4 from the plate for the second consecutive game with two RBIs and a triple. Nick Papas (Maple Hill/Castleton) went 2-4 with a double and triple, and Sean Geisel (Guilderland/Guilderland) recorded two hits and three RBIs.
The Vikings' next game is a double-header against Grace on Tuesday, March 22 beginning at 11 a.m.
