The Hudson Valley Community College baseball team (19-10, 14-4) swept the Clinton Community College Cougars for the second time this week, 10-0 and 10-0, on Thursday, April 15.
Pitcher Kyle Kelly (Glens Falls, Glens Falls) threw a no-hitter against the Cougars in game one of the doubleheader. Kelly had six strikeouts and one walk in five innings of work as the Vikings lit up Clinton and forced the ten-run mercy rule midway through the fifth inning. Tyler Young (Columbia, Rennselaer) was two-for-two with three RBIs in the game.
Game two mirrored game one as the Viking bats blistered Clinton and once again forced the mercy rule. Bobby Peluso (Columbia, East Greenbush) went two-for-three with an RBI and Dave Balsamo (Shenendehowa, Halfmoon) went two-for-four with 2 RBIs. Chris Massaroni (Voorheesville, Voorheesville) also added a two-run homerun in the win. Pitchers Levi Washburn (Schuylerville, Gansevoort) and Troy Tucker (Delaware Academy, Delhi) combined for the shutout.
The Vikings are scheduled to play Mohawk Valley Community College tomorrow in a doubleheader. First pitch is at 1 p.m.
