The Hudson Valley Community College (13-10/10-1 Region III) rallied from a pair of 3-0 deficits to sweep Colum bia-Greene Community College at Joseph L. Bruno Stadium in Troy. Hudson Valley won the opener, 13-8, and the nightcap, 9-3.
Hudson Valley trailed 3-0 entering the bottom of the second of the opener before Hudson Valley exploded for five runs in the second and eight runs in the third to take a commanding 13-3 lead.
Sophomore Brett Weber (East Greenbush/Columbia High School) led Hudson Valley's offensive attack with two hits, including a double, and three RBI. Freshman Matt Valenti (Troy/Troy High School) was two-for-two with an RBI. Zac Kozersky (Victory Mills/Schuylerville High School), Andrew Brickwedel (Ballston Lake/Catholic Central High School) and Dustin Teta (Colonie/Colonie High School) each drove in two runs in the opener.
Sophomore pitcher Matt LaValley (Guilderland/Guilderland High School) allowed five hits and one earned run over six inning to pick up the win in the second game. He struck out seven and walked one.
Freshman catcher Jeremy Villano (Schuylerville/Schuylerville High School) was two-for-three with an RBI. Freshman Justin Shannon (East Greenbush/Columbia High School) hit a two-run single in the fifth inning to give the Vikings a commanding 8-3 lead.
