The 2006 All-SUNYAC baseball team included a pair of former Hudson Valley Community College student-athletes. Bill Kelts (Waterford/Christian Brother's Academy) a senior outfielder at SUNY New Paltz, and Chris Salamida (Watervliet/Watervliet High School), a junior pitcher/outfielder at SUNY Oneonta, were each named to the first team.
Kelts led New Paltz with a .411 batting average, seven home runs, 60 hits and 44 RBI. He started the season with an eleven game hitting streak and was held hitless in only five contests. Kelts had 16 multi hit games including back-to-back four hit games against Vassar College and SUNY Oswego.
Salamida was Oneonta's top pitcher in 2006. He was 8-2 with a 1.70 earned run average. He struck out 75 batters in 79.1 innings of work. At the plate, Salamida hit .308 with two home runs, 21 RBI. He led Oneonta with 15 stolen bases. He tossed consecutive nine inning shutouts over Plattsburgh and New Paltz to end the season.
