Freshman pitcher Nate Novak (Hudson/Hudson High School) struck out nine batters and only allowed two runs on one hit to lead the Hudson Valley Community College (9-8/3-0 Region III) baseball team to a 12-2 win over Finger Lakes Community College (2-12/0-2 Region III) in the nightcap of a doubleheader played today at Joseph L. Bruno Stadium. Hudson Valley won the opening game 4-3.
Novak helped his cause in the nightcap with two hits and three RBI. Freshman Nick Barbera (Niskayuna/Niskayuna High School) also had two hits for the Vikings.
Freshman Ben Bushey (Hoosick Falls/Hoosick Falls High School) had two hits and two RBI, including the game winning RBI in the bottom of the seventh inning to lead Hudson Valley in the opener. Sophomore Tom Zink (Guilderland/Guilderland High School) was two-for-four with a triple.
Hudson Valley will visit Ulster County Community College tomorrow at noon.
