Erie Community College (37-9) and Hudson Valley Community College (33-14) will meet in the NJCAA Region III Championship at 11 a.m. on Sunday, May 14, at Joseph L. Bruno Stadium for the right to move on to the NJCAA Division III World Series. Hudson Valley, which advances out of the losers bracket, must defeat Erie twice to win the Region III title
Game 1 summary (Herkimer 7, Columbia-Greene 3)
Herkimer County Community College (21-17) eliminated Columbia-Greene Community College (25-8) with a 7-3 victory in the opening game of the day. Freshman Jossey Vigo (Puerto Rico) had three hits, including a home run, and two RBI to lead Herkimer. Freshman Brendan O'Connor (Brookline, MA) also had three hits.
Sophomore Ryan Bouck (Schenectady) hit a two-run home run for Columbia-Greene.

Game 2 summary (Erie 13, Hudson Valley 5)
Erie advanced to the championship game with a 13-5 win over Hudson Valley. The Kats took advantage of nine walks and six Hudson Valley errors. Freshman Mark Houck (Derby) had two hits, including a home run, and three RBI to pace Erie's attack. Freshman Bill Kenyon (Hamburg) also drove in three runs.
Sophomore Paul Pietrowski (Beacon/Beacon High School) hit a two-run home run for Hudson Valley.

Game 3 summary (Hudson Valley 4, Herkimer 1)
Hudson Valley avoided elimination and advanced to the championship game with a 4-1 win over Herkimer. Sophomore pitcher Anthony Bloomfield (Albany/Bishop Maginn High School) picked up the win on the mound after allowing only one run on six hits in 7.1 innings of work. He struck out one. Sophomore Phil Carr (Shandaken/Onteora High School) went the final 1.2 innings to earn the save. Sophomores Craig Mastroianni (Colonie/Colonie High School), Dan Bruno (Saratoga Springs/Saratoga Springs High School) and Joel Molina (Middletown/Middletown High School) each had an RBI for the Vikings.
Sophomore Bill Arpei (Saratoga Springs) had three hits and an RBI for Herkimer.
