William Lewis (Middletown/Middletown High School), a sophomore pitcher on the Hudson Valley Community College baseball team, has been named to the Mountain Valley Conference All-Star Team.
Lewis is 7-2 with a 1.01 earned run average this season. He has struck out 54 batters in 53.2 innings of work, and opponents are only hitting .152 off him. He also is batting .320 (16-for-50) with a home run and 11 RBI.
One of the top pitchers in the program's history, Lewis ranks second on the college's all-time win list. His record currently stands at 14-4. He trails only Hudson Valley Hall of Fame pitcher Gary Walcot, who compiled a 15-1 record in 1970-71.
Hudson Valley (31-13) has advanced to the Region III final four for the ninth consecutive season and will host Herkimer County Community College at 3 p.m. on Friday, May 13.
