Hudson Valley Community College's Department of Athletics and Veteran Resource and Outreach Center (VETROC) will host the 5thAnnual Military & First Responders Appreciation Day on Saturday, September 16, 2023 during the Viking football team's home game against Nassau Community College at 1 p.m.
The annual showdown between the two programs was selected by the National Junior College Association (NJCAA) as its NJCAA ESPN+ Game of the Week, and marks the first time in the Vikings football program has been featured on the ESPN family of networks.
An appreciation luncheon for all Military, First Responders, their families and the campus community from 11:00 a.m. - 1 p.m. will take place under the Joe Bruno Stadium Pavilion, located adjacent to the Outdoor Athletic Complex and the football field.
During halftime, the Athletics Department will honor all Veterans and first responders in attendance and present the Vikings Military Appreciation Award to Sonya Ward of IBI Semper Training. IBI Semper Training provides service dog training for Veterans & First Responders with PTSD.
