Hudson Valley Cancels Spring Sports; All Athletics Related Activities Amid Coronavirus Precautions

Athletics has canceled all spring sports, related athletics activities.

TROY, NY - In compliance with campus-wide safety precautions that are being taken to combat the health and safety concerns related to the Coronavirus Pandemic, the Hudson Valley Community College department of athletics announced today the decision to cancel the remainder of the 2020 spring sports season as well as all other athletics related activities.

The College is approaching the beginning of an extended Spring Break from March 14 through March 29, 2020. The extended Spring Break will allow Hudson Valley to further develop plans and creative solutions on how to approach the reminder of the semester with as little disruption as possible.

Please be reminded that while classes are being postponed for the duration of the extended break, the College remains open.

The college is strongly encouraging all members of our community to follow some common guidelines:

  • Please continue to check your Hudson Valley email accounts and the college website frequently throughout the break. Any new information relevant to the college will be communicated to you through those channels.
  • Please avoid large crowds and unnecessary travel as much as possible, and refer to the CDC's travel guidelines when making any unavoidable travel decisions.
  •  Please continue to practice the basic hygiene and health steps outlined on the CDC's Coronavirus webpage, including proper hand washing.

  • If you begin to show symptoms or believe you've been exposed to Coronavirus (COVID-19), please call College Health Services at (518) 629-7468 or contact your healthcare provider before seeking care in person.
  • Even if you do not use College Health Services, you are asked to self-report any symptoms or potential exposure to the college. Students and employees can use the newly created Report Viral Illness form, available after logging into WIReD, to self-report any symptoms or potential exposure of Coronavirus to the college.
