Hudson Valley Community College's men's and women's basketball programs have qualified and earned a spot in the 2019 NJCAA Region 3 postseason tournament, as announced by the region's basketball committee on Saturday evening.

The Vikings women's basketball program earned the No. 5 seed and will travel to play No. 4 Jefferson on Tuesday, Feb. 26 at 6 p.m. The matchup is a rematch from earlier in the season when Jefferson gave the Vikings their first loss of the season on Nov. 11. The Cannoneers edged the Vikings 76-75 as they connected on a game-winning free throw with 1.1 seconds remaining in the game. Taylor Engster (Troy/Catholic Central) led the Vikings with 23 points and 12 rebounds.

The men's basketball program earned the No. 7 seed and will travel to play No. 2 Mohawk Valley on Tuesday, Feb. 26 at 7 p.m. This game will be the third matchup between the Hawks and the Vikings this season. Mohawk Valley, currently ranked No. 3 in the latest NJCAA national rankings, swept the Vikings in both games this season. Caleb Canty (Hudson/Hudson) is averaging 22.5 points against the Hawks this season and O'nandi Brooks (Brooklyn, George Westinghouse) is averaging 15.5 points and 8.5 rebounds against Mohawk Valley.
