Volleyball Drops Five Game Thriller to Bergen

The Hudson Valley Community College women's volleyball team (0-1) dropped its home opener to Bergen (2-2) in a five game thriller (12-25, 17-25, 25-20, 25-23, 15-11) on Monday evening in the McDonough Sports Complex.

The Vikings fell behind Bergen early after dropping the first two sets but recovered to win game three and game four to force the decisive game five.

Jessica Getty (Hartford/Hartford) and Alayna Fredenburg (Rotterdam/Schalmont) led the Vikings offense with nine kills each. Getty also added team highs with four service aces and five blocks. Megan Woods (Averill Park/Averill Park) also contributed three service aces to go with a game high 32 digs (6.40 digs/set). Olivia Fischer (Averill Park/Averill Park) added another 20 digs to the team total, averaging 4.0 digs/set. Danielle Pardo (Averill Park/Averill Park) dished out 22 total assists in the five game set for the Vikings.

The women's volleyball team is back in action on Sept. 9 to participate in the pod tournament hosted by Adirondack.
