Hudson Valley Community College softball team (0-10) couldn't pull through late in the games as the Vikings were defeated by Adirondack on Tuesday afternoon in Glens Falls, NY.

Game One: Hudson Valley 9, Adirondack 13

The Vikings got off to a slow start in the opening game but were able to find their swings in the later innings of game one. Hudson Valley scored eight of their season high nine runs in the last few innings and were led by Gina Patricelli's (Troy/Lansingburgh) game-high six RBIs.

Patricelli finished the game with two hits in the fifth and sixth innings, driving in two RBIs in each inning. She also pitched the final three innings of the game and shut down Adirondack by keeping them off the scoreboard, opening up an opportunity for the Vikings to stage a comeback.

In the first game since hitting her first career home run, Sierra Putnam (Nassau/New Lebanon) connected for two doubles and drove in one Vikings run. Putnam drove in the first run of the game, giving the Vikings the early 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning.

Madison Herrington (Mechanicville/Mechanicville) finished 2-for-3 at the plate and scored two runs. Amanda Kenyon (Mechanicville/Mechanicville) also collected two hits with an RBI and added two stolen bases.

Game Two: Hudson Valley 6, Adirondack 7

The Vikings fell behind early in the game and couldn't keep Adirondack off the board late in the game. The defensive highlight of the game was when the Vikings turned a 9-3-6 inning ending triple play in the top of the seventh inning.

Hudson Valley carried the momentum of the triple play into their final at-bats and scored three runs, but fell one run short in their comeback effort. The Vikings were helped by Adirondack's three errors in the inning, which allowed the Vikings to take advantage of the extra at-bats.

Paige Roberts (Cobleskill/Cobleskill) collected a team-high three base hits with a run scored and an RBI. Herrington and Ashley Pulcher (Stuyvesant/Ichabod Crane) each hit a double in the fourth inning. Pulcher's double drove home Herrington for the Vikings second run of the inning.

Kenyon got the call in the circle for her first collegiate start and tossed five complete innings with six runs on eight hits, including a pair of strikeouts.

The Vikings are back home this Thursday, April 26 when they welcome Columbia-Greene at the Vikings Softball Field in Troy, NY. First pitch is expected at 3 p.m.
