The Hudson Valley Community College football team (1-6) was defeated by Alfred State College (4-2), 13-12, on Saturday, Oct. 16.
The Viking defense was exceptional, with defensive back Sidiq Soulemana (DeWitt Clinton/Bronx) returning his second interception of the year for a touchdown. This pulled the Vikings within a point at 10 minutes to play in the game, but they missed the ensuing point after a touchdown attempt leading to the final 13-12 score.
As the Hudson Valley offense struggled to put points on the board, local product Kenny Youngs (Lansingburgh/Troy) rushed for 125 yards on 25 carries and is now the leading rusher in the Northeast Football Conference. The Vikings enter their bye-week with a scrimmage against Milford Academy scheduled for Friday, Oct. 22 at 3 p.m. before resuming regular season play against Navy Prep the following week.
