Iona College running back Dane Samuels, who was named the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference's 2006 Co-Offensive Player of the Year, is one of several former Hudson Valley football players recognized for their play on the gridiron during the 2006 season.
Samuels, who did not earn a start with Iona until midway through the season, still managed to lead the MAAC with 698 rushing yards. He also led the league with a 27.4 yard kick return average.
Joining Samuels on the All-MAAC team from Iona were former Hudson Valley defensive back Reggie Dorsainvil and former Viking tight end Juan Chamba. Dorsainvil finished the year with 31 tackles and a league-best four interceptions. Chamba caught 17 passes for 214 yards and two touchdowns.
Emmanuel Marc, Hudson Valley all-time leading rusher, was an All-Mid Eastern Athletic Conference selection for Delaware State University after rushing for 1,230 yards and 12 touchdowns. He averaged 6.6 yards per carry.
Terrence Bynum, who played for the Vikings in 2003 and 2004, earned All-Liberty League recognition for the second consecutive season as a guard for Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.
Former Hudson Valley safety Damion Malott earned All-Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference after posting 62 tackles and four interceptions for Edinboro University.
