Lamar Gordon-Holmes (Sayreville, NJ/Sayreville War Memorial High School) and Jamal Harrod (Baltimore, MD/Southwestern High School), who each recently completed their sophomore season on the Hudson Valley Community College football team, have earned full athletic scholarships to four-year universities.
Gordon-Holmes, a safety, has signed a National Letter of Intent to attend school and play football at Central Connecticut State University. He had 49 tackles and three sacks for Hudson Valley in 2005, earning First Team All-Northeast Football Conference recognition.
Harrod, a tight end, was a First Team All-Conference selection in 2005 after catching 14 passes for 176 yards and a touchdown. He will attend Fort Valley State University in Georgia.
Twenty-three Hudson Valley football players have received an athletic scholarship to a NCAA Division I-A, I-AA or II college since 2003.
Hudson Valley finished the 2005 season with a 6-4 record and captured its fifth Region III championship in the last six years. The Vikings will open the 2006 campaign on Friday, September 8 in West Point against Army Prep School.
