The Hudson Valley Community College baseball team (20-12) defeated Columbia-Greene Community college (4-23) on Sunday afternoon. The Vikings won game one, 9-3 and won game two in five innings, 15-4.
The Vikings took an early three run lead in the first two innings of game one. The Twins answered in the third, with three runs off of three hits.
Hudson Valley rallied in the sixth with four runs, and added on two more secure the third win over Columbia-Greene.
Jon Montesanti (Colonie/Niskayuna) led the Vikings with a three-run home run, and Danny Coleman (Saratoga Springs/Saratoga Springs) hit a two-run home run in the seventh. With three hits Mike Graves (Bethlehem/Bethlehem) was a home run short of a cycle, recording a single in the second, a triple in the fourth, and a double in the fifth.
Nicholas Zuba (Columbia/East Greenbush) pitched a complete game in the second game, striking out two, and only allowing seven hits. Hudson Valley had a huge second inning, scoring 10 straight and never looked back.
Coleman, Nicolas Teitter (CBA Albany/Green Island), Kyle Bestle (Tamarac/Troy), and Austin Lawrence (Columbia/East Greenbush) each recorded a double in the victory.
The men travel to Mohawk Valley on Saturday starting at 1 p.m.
