The Hudson Valley Community College baseball team (15-11) split with SUNY Adirondack (11-6) on Sunday afternoon. The Vikings won game one in five innings, 12-2 and lost game two 10-3.
In game one, the Vikings scored seven runs in the second inning off of four hits, including a two-run home run by Mike Graves (Bethlehem/Bethlehem). Hudson Valley continued to dominate the remainder of the game scoring two in the third and three in the fifth, including the winning RBI by Jon Montesanti (Colonie/Niskayuna).
Montesanti and Graves were perfect at the plate and each recorded three RBIs and a stolen base. Alex Koshgarian (CBA/Cohoes) recorded his fourth home run of the season in the victory.
Hudson Valley started strong in game two, taking a 2-0 lead after the first inning. In the fourth, the Timberwolves went on a four-run rally and as they took their first lead of the day. The Vikings fell short as they scored only one run in the remaining innings.
Montesanti, Garrett Klahr (Shaker/Latham) and Brendan Haverty (LaSalle Institute/Troy) each recorded a RBI in the loss.
The men travel to Mohawk Valley on Tuesday starting at 2 p.m.
