The Hudson Valley Community College baseball team (13-9) defeated Schenectady County Community College (0-19) on Thursday afternoon. The Vikings won game one in five innings 12-2, and then took game two in six innings 12-2.
In the first game, the Vikings scored 11 unanswered runs over the first three innings, and only allowed the Royals to score two runs in the fourth. Jimmy Griffin (Watervliet/Watervliet) recorded the winning RBI, scoring Joseph Warner (CBA/Colonie) in the fifth.
Nicolas Teitter (Saugerties/Saugerties) led the Vikings going 2-2 at the plate, with a double, two RBIs, three runs, and a stolen base. Austin Lawrence (Columbia/East Greenbush) hit an inside-the-park home run recording two RBIs in the victory.
Hudson Valley scored five in the first two innings before giving up two runs to Schenectady in the second game. The Vikings went on to rally in the sixth with four runs, to record their fourth victory over the Royals.
Danny Coleman (Saratoga Springs/Saratoga Springs) led the Vikings going 2-2 at the plate, with two home runs, and five RBIs. Alex Koshgarian (CBA/Cohoes) and Teitter each recorded a triple and a run in the victory.
The men travel Adirondack on Saturday at 12 p.m.
