The Hudson Valley Community College baseball team (5-9) split with Herkimer College (6-8) on Monday afternoon. The Vikings lost game one 6-11, but won 16-4 in game two.
Alex Koshgarian (CBA/Cohoes) led the Vikings in game one going 4-4 at the plate with three runs, and Luuk Visser (Thorbecke Voortgezet Onderwijs The Hague/Netherlands) and Austin Lawrence (Columbia/East Greenbush) each hit a two-run homerun. Nicolas Teitter (Saugerties/ Saugerties) also recorded one hit and an RBI in the loss.
During game two the Vikings were scoreless in the first two innings. Over the next three innings Hudson Valley went on a huge rally, scoring five in the third, four in the fourth, and seven in the fifth.
Visser led Hudson Valley in game two going 3-4 at the plate with three runs, and five RBIs including a three-run homerun. Also hitting homeruns for the Vikings were Koshgarian, and Danny Coleman (Saratoga Springs/Saratoga Springs) totaling four RBIs.
Brien Hollowood (Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake/ Burnt Hills) pitched five strong innings with one strikeout, and only allowed two hits in the victory.
The Vikings host Fulton-Montgomery on Tuesday for a doubleheader starting at 2 p.m.
