The Hudson Valley Community College baseball team (18-13) lost to Fulton-Montgomery Community College (8-33) 6-2 and 5-1 on Tuesday afternoon.
All of the Raiders six runs were unearned as the Vikings produced errors at inopportune times. Hudson Valley stranded runners on base in every inning except for the seventh. Anthony Scaccia (Voorheesville/Voorheesville) led the team with three hits and a run scored, and Andy Kozak (Sidney/Sidney) added a pair of hits in the loss.
It seemed as if Fulton-Montgomery carried the momentum over to game two, taking an early 1-0 lead in the first. Hudson Valley tied the game in the second, but the Raiders answered back with four more runs and held the Vikings scoreless for the 5-1 victory. Bradley Adams (Catholic Central/Troy) had two of the three hits, scoring one run and recording one stolen base.
On a side note, with two Adirondack losses to Herkimer on Tuesday afternoon, the Vikings clinched a spot in the post-season but will not know their seed until Thursday evening. Hudson Valley wraps up the regular season tomorrow with a doubleheader at Schenectady slated for 2 p.m.
