The Hudson Valley Community College baseball team (4-4) defeated Fulton-Montgomery Community College (2-8) 10-3 and 10-0 on Tuesday afternoon.
Fulton-Montgomery jumped out to an early 3-0 lead in the top of the first, but the Vikings answered back with two runs in the bottom half of the inning. Matt Gallup (Christian Brothers Academy/Scotia) gave up three hits in that inning, but settled down and didn't issue another run or hit for the rest of the game. He finished with nine strikeouts and only one walk, en route to his first win of the year. Hudson Valley added another run in the second to tie the game at 3-3. The Vikings broke the game open in the fifth, scoring seven runs, cruising to a 10-3 victory. Alex Lushkevich (Saratoga/Saratoga Springs) led the attack with two hits, two RBIs, two stolen bases and a run scored. Brett Fenton (Catholic Central/Troy) reached base all four times recording two hits, two walks, two runs scored and a stolen base. Andy Kozak (Sidney/Sidney) and Anthony Scaccia (Voorheesville/Voorheesville) each recorded two hits in the win.
Charles Parslow (Fonda-Fultonville/Fonda) picked up where he left off in his last outing, throwing his second consecutive complete-game shutout in game two. Parslow allowed only three hits, striking out five and issuing only one walk in the win. Lushkevich recorded another two hits, bumping up his season average to a .461, and Kozak, Brad Adams (Catholic Central/Troy) and Jon Bonarrigo (Albany/Albany) all recorded RBIs. Everyone in the Vikings lineup reached base safely at least once, as the Vikings mercy-ruled the Raiders in the fifth inning.
The Vikings travel to Fulton-Montgomery for a doubleheader on Thursday starting at 2 p.m.
